Federal Fire Service Set To Employ More Nigerians (DETAILS)
The federal government has affirmed its commitment to creating job opportunities for numerous Nigerians through recruitment into the Federal Fire Service.
During the commissioning of 15 firefighting trucks and six rapid intervention vehicles at the headquarters in Abuja, the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, stated on Wednesday that the Service would play a significant role in employment generation in the country.

He expressed his belief that the fire service has the potential to become the foremost employer of labor in Nigeria. He emphasized the need for innovative thinking, overcoming barriers, and implementing ideas that align with the vision of development.

Tunji-Ojo encouraged firefighters to broaden their scope beyond fire control and focus on anticipating potential hazards.
“It is time for the fire service to rise to her responsibility. Your responsibility is not just about combating fire, your responsibility has to do, even with forecasting danger, we have to migrate from the era of corrective activities to the era of being proactive which will lead us to preventive measures that can of course save us billions of naira.”
The Controller General of Fire, Abdulganiyu Jaji, highlighted the significant progress made by the Service.
“Our fire statistics in the first and second quarter of 2023 is a testimony of a truly re-engineered Service, records at the Data Repository Centre put fire calls for the period at 1,096, lives saved – 111, successful rescues at 91, and total property saved at over 300 billion Naira.”
He underscored that the commissioning of the firefighting equipment would enhance the agency’s capacity to prevent fire incidents and demonstrate the government’s dedication to safeguarding lives and property, a cornerstone of a responsive administration.
