Federal Government Rallies Nation Behind Neglected Boy Child in Landmark Campaign!”

The Federal Government has urged all stakeholders to join hands in mentoring the boy-child to become responsible, productive, and value-oriented citizens.

This call was made by the Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, during his keynote address marking the 2025 International Day of the Boy-Child. The event, held on Friday, carried the theme: “Grooming the Boy-Child & Leveraging Mentorship for Leadership and Governance.”

Olawande expressed concern that many fathers and male role models are often absent in the lives of their sons, largely due to time constraints. He warned that such gaps could hinder the emotional and moral development of the boy-child.

“Mentorship plays a vital role in shaping our boys. It provides the guidance, support, and motivation needed for them to grow into confident and effective leaders,” he stated.

He stressed that, in the absence of strong role models, boys may struggle to acquire essential values and life skills required to succeed in society.

The Minister also underscored the need for intentional guidance and support structures to help boys navigate academic pressures, societal expectations, and personal struggles.

In line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, Olawande reaffirmed the government’s commitment to building platforms that promote leadership development and mentorship for boys across Nigeria.

“The boy-child remains a crucial pillar of our society. It is a shared responsibility to ensure that every boy, regardless of background or economic status, has access to meaningful empowerment opportunities,” he said.

The occasion was attended by notable dignitaries, including the Director General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Oluseye, and the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Citizenship and Leadership, Rinsola Abiola.
