FG Appoints New Acting DG For NAFDAC

The tenure of Professor Moji Adeyeye as Director General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has come to an end.

In November 2017, President Muhammadu Buhari appointed her. The position has a five-year term that can be extended.

A. U. Oboli, Director of Human Resources Management, informed units and departments of Adeyeye’s replacement in a memo dated November 17.

The communication was addressed to the directors and bears the reference number NAFDAC/ADM/SM/075.

Oboli informed them that the government had named Dr Monica Eimunjeze as Acting Director General, effective November 12.

“I am therefore directed to bring this development to you for information and guidance,” she added.

The new agency’s head studied Pharmacy at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria and graduated in 1986.

She earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Mercer University in Atlanta and a Master of Science (MSc) in Biotechnology, Innovation, and Regulatory Science from Purdue University.

Eimunjeze has worked in the pharmaceutical industry for many years. From 1989 to 1996, she worked for GlaxoSmithKline.

She previously served as NAFDAC’s Director of Registration and Regulatory Affairs, Director of Drug Evaluation and Research, and Technical Assistant to the DG.
