Four Presidential Candidates Visit Ganduje, Beg For Appointment Into Tinubu Government

Yesterday, presidential candidates from opposition parties in the February 25 election paid a visit to Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.

They stated that their visit aimed to seek participation in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and requested Ganduje’s assistance in facilitating their appointments in the current government.

It is worth recalling that Ganduje recently mentioned that the APC was engaged in discussions with several opposition parties and intended to integrate their structures into the ruling party.

Among those who visited were the former presidential candidates from the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Action Democratic Party (ADP), National Rescue Movement (NRM), and Action Peoples Party (APP).

Ambassador Felix Johnson Osakwe, the former presidential candidate of NRM and spokesperson for the Forum of Concerned Presidential Candidates, conveyed their message.

He expressed their commitment to the peace and development of Nigeria and clarified that they had chosen not to challenge Tinubu’s victory in the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal out of their desire for peace.

He emphasized that not all presidential candidates opposed Tinubu’s victory and stated their willingness to contribute to the country’s progress.

He remarked, “We are here not only to meet with Mr. President but also to align ourselves with you and express our gratitude for your appointment. Secondly, we consider you a father, a former Commander-in-Chief of a state, and today you are here. We believe you are the right person to lead us in a meeting with Mr. President so he can personally hear our perspectives and understand that not all presidential candidates are against his victory.”

He continued, “We opted not to pursue legal action because Nigeria is our only homeland. We are here to thank you, express our gratitude to God, and acknowledge everyone present. We believe that as presidential candidates, we have something valuable to offer this nation, especially in times that call for an inclusive government.”

In response, Ganduje expressed his appreciation for their visit and assured them that he would convey their views and requests to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He affirmed, “I will relay your views and requests and ensure that you have a direct meeting with Mr. President.”
