The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has launched an investigation into the fatal road accident that claimed the lives of 22 athletes and officials from Kano State. The victims were returning from the 2025 National Sports Festival in Ogun State when the crash occurred in Dakatsalle.

The FRSC Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, through Assistant Corps Marshal Ahmed Umar, announced the investigation during a condolence visit to the Kano State Government House. Umar stressed that such accidents are rarely coincidental and often result from human error, environmental conditions, or mechanical failure.

He assured Kano State that the outcome of the investigation will be made public once completed.

Receiving the FRSC delegation, Kano Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo expressed gratitude to the agency for its prompt response and support during the tragic time.
