The ambitious venture is set to traverse multiple West African nations, culminating in Morocco with an additional spur extending to Spain.

Initiated with the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding in 2022, the recent high-level talks involved key figures such as Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), and Leila Benali, Moroccan Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development.

Anchored by Mr. Olalekan Ogunleye and Mme Amina Benkhadra, top executives from NNPC Ltd. and the Morocco National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mines (ONHYM), the discussions focused on expediting the Final Investment Decision (FID).

Highlighting the strategic significance of the project, stakeholders underscored its potential to drive the monetization of Nigeria’s abundant gas resources. Beyond national interests, the pipeline aims to reinforce NNPC Ltd.’s energy leadership in Africa, fostering economic growth and collaboration among nations.

With an ambitious route through Benin, Togo, Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Gambia, Senegal, and Mauritania, the project not only addresses energy poverty but also serves as a beacon for the entire continent.

The urgency emphasized during the talks underscores the shared commitment to completing the project swiftly.
