Gov Bala Is Not Our Member’ – Bauchi PDP Faction Speaks Out

The Bauchi State Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has asserted that Governor Bala Mohammed is no longer a member of the party, dismissing his recent claim of continued PDP membership as misleading.

According to Ireporter Online, the clarification came in a press statement on Wednesday signed by the Chairman of the Bauchi State PDP Caretaker Committee, Hon. Jungudo Haruna Mohammed. The statement noted that the governor’s claim, reportedly made while breaking the Ramadan fast with supporters at the Government House in Bauchi, contradicts the party’s official position.

The committee cited the 103rd and 104th Resolutions of the PDP National Executive Committee (NEC), which formally expelled Governor Bala Mohammed alongside Governors Seyi Makinde and Dauda Lawal, among others, for actions deemed inconsistent with the party constitution. “For the avoidance of doubt, this claim is misleading,” the statement emphasized.

The Bauchi PDP Caretaker Committee maintained that public statements or media appearances by the governor cannot override the party’s established decisions. The statement called on Governor Bala Mohammed to demonstrate genuine commitment to reconciliation if he wishes to remain within the PDP fold, specifically urging engagement with critical stakeholders, including the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

Beyond the dispute over party membership, the committee encouraged the governor to focus on governance, highlighting rising insecurity in the state, particularly in his local government area. Members of the PDP and other stakeholders were advised to treat the governor’s claim with caution and continue supporting the Bauchi State Caretaker Committee.

“The integrity of the party’s processes must be preserved at all times,” the statement concluded.
