“Gov Eno Warns Akwa Ibom Youths: Leave Akpabio’s Family Out Of Public Disputes”

According to Ireporter Online, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has cautioned youths against making disparaging comments about the family of Senate President, Godswill Akpabio. The governor issued the warning following a peaceful protest at the Government House in Uyo by members of the Akwa Ibom Youth Coalition, who had gathered to express their grievances over issues reportedly linked to a female member of the Akpabio family.

Governor Eno, in a statement released through his Chief Press Secretary, Ekerete Udoh, emphasized that while citizens have the constitutional right to air their opinions, matters concerning family disputes should remain private and not be turned into public controversies capable of tarnishing the image of respected leaders.

“We should not dabble into family matters whose resolutions are best handled privately,” the governor was quoted as saying. He appealed to young people to avoid actions that could discredit leaders whom God has placed in positions of authority, urging them instead to demonstrate respect and civility.

He further stated that Akwa Ibom’s leaders, regardless of political affiliation, represent the collective pride and heritage of the state and should therefore be treated with dignity. “Our leaders across party lines are our enduring assets, and we must not engage in acts that undermine their reputation,” he added.

Governor Eno reiterated that the office and person of the Senate President bring honour to the state and should be accorded the highest level of respect. He called on the youths to adopt peaceful dialogue and mutual understanding as tools for resolving grievances, stressing that respect and unity remain the foundation of Akwa Ibom’s progress and development.
