According to Ireporter Online, the Governor of Taraba State, Agbu Kefas, has accused certain individuals of spreading falsehoods about him to elder statesman and former Defence Minister, Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (retd.).

Kefas made the remarks during a solidarity visit by traditional rulers from his hometown of Wukari at the TY Danjuma House in Jalingo. He dismissed speculations of a strained relationship with the retired general, emphasizing that their bond remains “sound, firm and solid.”

The governor’s comments appeared to respond to months of political speculation suggesting tension between the two prominent figures, rumours that have stirred uncertainty over the state’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

During the visit, Kefas expressed gratitude to the traditional leaders and to God for the opportunity to serve as governor, stressing the need for inclusive governance. “Taraba belongs to over 80 ethnic groups, and every one of them deserves good governance,” he said.

Kefas commended Gen. Danjuma for recognizing his leadership potential and supporting his vision for the state. He insisted that the retired general was aware of his capacity and remained undisturbed by detractors. “Some people go to General Danjuma to criticise me, but he knows me better than they do,” Kefas said. “As a soldier, he understands capacity, discipline and leadership.”

The governor also urged residents to register en masse with the All Progressives Congress, describing party membership as essential for attracting federal presence and development opportunities to Taraba. “We must mobilise for the APC. The benefits of alignment with the centre are clear, and Taraba will continue to benefit,” he added.
