Gov. Mutfwang Exposes Alleged Sponsors Behind Plateau Insecurity Crisis

According to Ireporter Online, Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has alleged that desperate politicians are behind the recurring insecurity and violent attacks recorded across the state.

The governor made the claim on Tuesday while addressing journalists who visited him on a courtesy call at the Government House in Jos, stating that the pattern of violence witnessed in Plateau communities often intensifies during election periods, suggesting political sponsorship rather than random acts of terrorism.

Mutfwang referenced past tragedies, including the March 7, 2010 Dogo Nahawa massacre, where over 1,000 people were reportedly killed by armed attackers, as well as the March 29 attack in Angwan Rukuba in Jos North Local Government Area, which claimed more than 30 lives. He noted that these incidents, like recent ones, coincided with electoral cycles.

He stated that the consistent timing of the attacks points to political motives, insisting that the situation goes beyond terrorism and is largely driven by desperate political interests seeking to destabilize the state.

The governor also pointed to recent violence in Kanam, Wase, and Qua’an Pan Local Government Areas, which are largely inhabited by Muslims, arguing that if the attackers were religious extremists, they would not target people of the same faith.

Mutfwang maintained that investigations conducted by his administration suggest that the attacks are being orchestrated by individuals with political motives, adding that his government will not allow such acts to succeed in destabilizing Plateau State.
