How Would Northerners React To This? – Nyako’s Son Makes Big Revelation On Tinubu
Senator Abdulaziz Nyako, son of former Adamawa State Governor Murtala Nyako, has opened up about the role Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, played following his father’s impeachment.
Nyako was impeached on July 15, 2014, following his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Nyako Snr. led a group of five governors to form the new PDP (nPDP) in response to an alleged plot to destabilize the northern region.
In 2015, the faction joined forces with the All Progressives Congress (APC) to depose Jonathan.

A memo Nyako sent to northern governors alleging that the federal government was committing genocide against northerners widened his rift with Jonathan.
Following his impeachment, incumbent Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, who was also the speaker of the Adamawa assembly, took over as acting governor of the state.
Answering questions from a panel of journalists at a town hall meeting in Yola, Abdulaziz, the APC senatorial candidate for Adamawa Central constituency, Tinubu, and ex-Senate President Bukola Saraki came to his father’s aid.

He said he owed the duo respect for supporting his father when Northern governors, including members of his G5 group who fought Jonathan, refused to provide him with temporary shelter in their states.
According to him, Tinubu and Saraki put their necks on the line to help Nyako flee to London, where he lived in exile until President Muhammadu Buhari was sworn in in 2015.
“Asiwaju and Saraki helped Admiral (Nyako) to leave the country. In fact, it was Asiwaju’s son that paid for his (Admiral Nyako’s) accommodation in London”, he stated.
The senatorial candidate expressed gratitude to Tinubu and Saraki for their assistance to his father during a critical period when the state security apparatus was deployed to track him down.
He went on to say that when Tinubu’s camp asked him to vote for Ahmad Lawan for Senate President instead of Saraki, he told them he couldn’t trade Saraki for anyone except Tinubu himself.
As a result, he reiterated his unwavering support for Tinubu’s presidential bid, claiming that the Muslim-Muslim ticket is necessary to woo Muslim votes in the North and does not represent a plot to exclude the Christian population.
Abdulaziz represented his constituency in the Senate from 2015 to 2019, when he ran for governor on the platform of the African Democratic Party (ADC), after clashing with the then-APC governor, Muhammadu Jibrilla Bindow, whom his father had supported for the position.
