I Chose Peace” – Desola Afod Breaks Silence On Backlash Over Fuji Star Malaika Romance

According to Ireporter Online, Desola Afod, wife of Nollywood actor Kunle Afod, has addressed the criticism surrounding her association with Fuji singer Malaika. The mother of four took to Instagram to respond to negative comments, emphasizing her commitment to peace.

In her post, Desola stated: “To everyone speaking ill of me @desolaafod, I choose peace, and I leave the rest to God to JUDGE YOU AND YOUR BUSINESS. READ THAT AGAIN.” The controversy arose after social media users accused her of embarrassing her husband through her public interactions with the singer.

A fan had advised Desola to keep the relationship private, but she defended herself, noting that criticism often follows when people associate with individuals perceived to be “above them.” She added that she would not engage in clearing rumours, asserting that she was matching energy this year.

Desola later shared a video with Malaika, explaining that growing up in a polygamous setting had prepared her for life and that she is prepared to confront online trolls.

This is not the first time the Afods have faced online rumours. In 2024, Kunle Afod denied allegations of impregnating a woman in Mushin, calling the claim baseless, and also dismissed reports of an affair in Ibadan. At the time, Desola publicly supported her husband, affirming her commitment to their marriage.

While celebrating Kunle Afod’s 50th birthday, Desola reflected on the challenges of being married to a public figure, noting that despite difficulties, divorce was never an option, and she remains devoted to her husband and children.
