I Paid My Dues, I Won’t Shrink For Approval” — Debbie Shokoya
According to Ireporter Online, Nollywood actress Debbie Shokoya has stirred reactions on social media after sharing a reflective message on self-worth and respect within the entertainment industry.
The actress, who is also a mother of one, took to her Instagram page to address what appeared to be a veiled message directed at an unnamed individual. She emphasized that there is a clear difference between pride and an awareness of one’s personal and professional value.
Shokoya stated that she has already “paid her dues” in the industry and will not diminish herself or compromise her dignity in a bid to remain in anyone’s good books. In her words, she made it clear that she refuses to shrink herself for acceptance or approval, stressing her confidence in her journey and growth.
“There’s a difference between being proud and knowing one’s worth! I paid my dues. I won’t shrink because I wanna be in your good book! Koni Da Fun Book Yen,” she wrote. She further added, “I am proud mo gba,” reinforcing her stance on self-respect and personal conviction.
