The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has strongly rejected allegations of being double-faced in his political dealings within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), according to iReporter Online.

Wike, during his monthly media chat in Abuja on Monday, clarified that his decision not to support former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in the 2023 presidential election was transparent from the onset.

He emphasized that he consistently advocated for equity, fairness, and justice, maintaining that the presidency should have been zoned to the South.

According to iReporter Online, the former Rivers State Governor reiterated that his support for President Bola Tinubu was based on personal conviction, strategic judgement, and his belief in Tinubu’s capacity to rescue Nigeria from its challenges.

“I take strong exception to those who label me as double-faced,” Wike declared.

“From the beginning, I made it categorically clear that I would not be supporting Atiku.

I wasn’t part of their meetings, and I didn’t say one thing and do another. I stood on principle.”

He further explained that his alignment with Tinubu’s APC-led administration stemmed from a firm belief that Tinubu had the best chance to win and lead Nigeria effectively.

“I assessed who, among the southern candidates, had the capacity to win and govern well. That was my decision, and time has proven me right,” Wike added, according to iReporter Online.
