“I Won’t Pretend We’re Cool” – Tiwa Savage Finally Speaks On Explosive Feud With Seyi Shay
According to Ireporter Online, award-winning Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage has opened up about her lingering feud with fellow artiste Seyi Shay, shedding light on the viral 2021 salon confrontation that stirred major buzz on social media.
Tiwa Savage, in a candid conversation on the show Off Air with Gbemi O and Toolz, addressed the tension that has persisted between her and Seyi Shay for years. The singer explained that the fallout originated from a diss verse in Seyi Shay’s rendition of the viral Fvck You Challenge by Kizz Daniel in 2017, which sparked a wave of subtle rivalry and public drama.
The Somebody’s Son crooner stated that she could not pretend to be cordial with someone who had publicly dissed her, emphasizing that her confrontation at the salon was a result of unresolved issues. “If you do something to me, I’ll let you know directly, not online,” she said. “I’m not going to act like we’re cool in a salon when you’ve done a diss track about me.”
Addressing long-standing rumors that she had sabotaged other female artistes’ careers, including Seyi Shay and Victoria Kimani, Tiwa Savage firmly denied ever trying to “block anyone’s bag.” She maintained that she has always been supportive of women in the entertainment industry.
“That was painful because I didn’t know where those stories were coming from,” Tiwa said. “If anyone claims I blocked their opportunities, they should mention the person so I can address it. I would never do that — I’m so pro-women.”
She further revealed that contrary to the allegations, she once lost a major endorsement deal with Pepsi due to her pregnancy, which later went to Seyi Shay. “When I got pregnant and had Jamil, I was taken off the Longer Throat Pepsi campaign and Shay became a brand ambassador instead,” she recounted. “So how could I have stopped her bag? I wasn’t even mad. I just worked hard to get my body back.”
Tiwa Savage’s comments have reignited discussions among fans about the complex dynamics between female artistes in the Nigerian music scene, with many praising her for addressing the issue with maturity and honesty.
