I’ll Uphold Capacity Building In Edo State – AAA
Front runner for the Edo governorship seat come 2024, Adolphus Arebanmhen Aletor in a video clip made available to the press has made known his intention of bringing back the state to its glory days. This he said he will make possible by employing capacity building as a major tool.
In his words: “I’ll start with the educational sector, which happens to be a sector that needs reviving presently in the state. I’ll put in charge the old boys to serve as caretakers to the schools.”
This very strategy he describes to be very effective, as the caretakers will be watchmen to their various alma maters. He went on to divulge that he’s going to initiate a total reform in the Edo State Ministry of Education, as everybody’s hands must be on deck.
Adolphus clarified his stance on the grounds of check and balances principle in government, compared to the independence formerly enjoyed by the Ministry over the years. As subsequently, the caretakers and the ministry will be made to work pari passu to ensure that the educational sector progresses, checking each other’s activities, while making amendments where necessary.
Going further, he recalled back in the days where people from all over the nation took it as a priority to make sure their children come down to Edo State for better education, as the state was seen as an educational hub. He said that has become a thing of the past, as the Edo educational system we knew before that attracted people from far and near was completely far from reach in present times. He dwelled on all these while convincing the good people of Edo of his Will and intention to bribg back lost that Edo was known for.
However, Mr Adolphus established that one of the reason for his decision to take it upon himself to represent Edo at the helm of affairs was based on his recent visit to some schools in the state where he met children in conditions that were before acceptable standards. Ranging from dilapidated facilities, unconducive learning environment, inadequate teachers and where available teaching skills gap to mention but a few. He adduces these reasons to poor performance in children at both internal and external examinations and ultimate umplyability among the youth.
In his closing remarks, he highlighted his zeal to ensure that Edo starts producing world class citizens like back in the days, as well as very important people in the nation, people to set good examples for the younger generations, among others. A change is imperative, he said, as he convinced the people to give him their support and chance by making him governor come 2024.
