Omokri claimed via his X handle that Wizkid’s album, in just two weeks, had surpassed Osun State’s IGR for 2023. Reacting on Sunday, Akosile described the statement as misleading and unfair, highlighting the differences between a global music star’s revenue and a state’s income, which is sourced from its residents.

She outlined Osun’s revenue progress under Adeleke’s administration, noting year-on-year increases: 13.5% in 2023 and a 46% spike in 2024, representing an 82% growth since 2021. Akosile argued that Omokri’s comparison lacked depth and logic.

“It’s absurd to compare Wizkid’s global audience with Osun State’s residents. By this logic, should Ronaldo and Messi, who earn billions annually, be called upon to lecture states on revenue generation?” she questioned, pointing out the flawed reasoning.

She further claimed that Omokri has shifted to making “illogical half-statements” to gain relevance, using Wizkid’s album as a pretext. Akosile concluded by urging critical thinking when interpreting data and making such comparisons.
