Imo Attack, INEC Says No Critical Election Material Was Destroyed
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has stated that crucial electoral papers were not damaged in the attack on its Imo state office on Monday, December 12, 2022.

The attack on the Independent National Electoral Commission’s Imo state office on December 12, 2022, according to INEC, did not cause any harm to important electoral documents.
Hours after the attack, Festus Okoye, the INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Card Education Committee, announced this in a statement.
According to reports, the event occurred on Monday about 3 am.
Okoye added that the attack only affected the portion of the building that was home to the Election and Party Monitoring (EPM) Department and that no members of the commission’s employees were killed in the incident.
Additionally, he said that a Toyota Hilux pickup van used for official purposes had been burned.
