Imo Declares War on Vandals as Government Unleashes Special Anti-Vandalism Taskforce

The Imo State Government has launched a dedicated Anti-Vandalism Unit in response to the growing destruction of public infrastructure across the state. According to “iReporter Online,” this move comes amid escalating concerns over the deliberate sabotage of government properties by unidentified individuals.

The initiative, driven by the Office of the Special Assistant to the Governor on Monitoring and Compliance, was unveiled during a formal inauguration ceremony in Owerri. Nze Chinasa Nwaneri, who serves as the Special Assistant to the Governor, expressed dismay at what he described as a disturbing trend threatening the state’s developmental strides. He emphasized that such acts of destruction are not only criminal but also hinder progress and drain public resources.

In what is seen as a swift and decisive intervention, the state government mandated the newly created unit to begin operations immediately. The team is expected to patrol public assets, identify perpetrators, and collaborate with security agencies to ensure arrests and prosecutions.

Nze Nwaneri, speaking on behalf of the administration, appealed to residents to support the government’s effort by reporting incidents of vandalism. He released dedicated phone lines—09024053508 and 08139128766—for citizens to call in any suspicious activities.

According to “iReporter Online,” the governor’s office remains committed to closely monitoring the situation and will continue to implement proactive measures to safeguard state infrastructure.
