A senior INEC official disclosed that the commission is working on a new 2027-2031 Strategic Plan, which will replace the current 2022-2026 framework that expires in December 2026. The new plan aims to enhance logistics, technical processes, and overall electoral operations.

INEC’s preparations include updating election templates, refining operational strategies, and addressing logistical and technical challenges experienced in previous elections. The 2023 general elections saw logistical difficulties, particularly with the upload of presidential results to the INEC Result Viewing (IReV) portal. While National Assembly results were successfully uploaded, the presidential results faced technical delays due to configuration errors.

The commission has since resolved these issues through software updates and is now focused on ensuring a seamless electoral process in 2027.
