The group was part of the 30 individuals kidnapped from their homes back in December 2023.

Reportedly, the kidnappers initially received N6.5 million in exchange for releasing all the captives. However, they only freed 17 individuals and demanded an additional N16 million for the remaining hostages.

Last Saturday, the remaining 13 captives were finally released following the payment of ransom. Malam Jafaru Anaba, a community leader whose relatives were among those released, confirmed the news to Daily Trust on Monday, February 12.

While declining to disclose the exact ransom amount, Anaba assured that the freed victims have been reunited with their families.
