JUST IN: Adamu Is Dead, Tinubu Reacts

President Bola Tinubu has expressed sorrow at the passing of Alhaji Adamu Fika, a distinguished elder statesman and former Head of the Civil Service of the Federation. Alhaji Fika, who was 90 years old, passed away on Tuesday.

In a statement released by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu praised Alhaji Fika’s significant contributions, especially during a challenging period for the Federal Civil Service.

He highlighted Alhaji Fika’s pivotal roles in nurturing the enduring institution responsible for shaping and executing public policies.

President Tinubu recognized Alhaji Fika’s lasting impact, both as Head of Service and as chairman of various civil service reform panels, in Nigeria’s history.

He remarked, “Alhaji Adamu Fika’s life of service to Nigeria saw him hold various important positions, before his elevation to the Office of Head of the Civil Service of the Federation; a post he held until his retirement.”

Extending condolences to the government and people of Yobe State, President Tinubu praised Alhaji Fika’s legacy of achievements, integrity, dedication to service, and commitment, which serve as an inspiration to public servants and fellow citizens alike.

The President concluded with a prayer, “May Allah forgive his sins and grant him Aljannah Firdaus.”

The Fika Emirate Council in Yobe State formally announced the passing of Adamu Fika CFR on Tuesday. According to the statement, the late Waziri passed away on Tuesday night at his residence in Kaduna.

Adamu Fika, who served as Head of Service in 1986, was also a former permanent secretary in the police affairs department, Ministry of Communication, and Federal Capital Territory.

He held the esteemed traditional title of Waziri in the Fika Emirate Council and was born in 1933 in Fika, Yobe State.
