Just In: IPOB Condemns Soldiers’ Killing In Aba, Blames-Politicians (Details)

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has denounced the killing of soldiers in Aba, Abia State, attributing the violence to politicians seeking to disrupt peace in the region. The group, in a statement released on Friday, distanced its members from the attack, asserting that criminals manipulated by politicians were responsible.

In the statement signed by its spokesperson, Powerful, IPOB emphasized its focus on the sit-at-home order and expressed condemnation for the soldiers’ killings. The group clarified that the purpose of the sit-at-home was to honor fallen heroes and heroines, not to incite violence against anyone.

Powerful reiterated that IPOB had no involvement in the attack and suggested that those implicating the group were under external influence. He cautioned against attempts by politicians to sow discord in the peaceful Enyimba City, warning the governor of Abia State to remain vigilant.

Describing the perpetrators of the attack as criminals, not affiliated with IPOB, Powerful emphasized the group’s dedication to commemorating fallen Biafran heroes and heroines. IPOB denounced the violence as criminal activity and distanced itself from any association with the incident.

The killing of five soldiers occurred on Thursday during the sit-at-home declared by IPOB to commemorate those who died in the Biafra civil war. The incident occurred at Obikabia Junction Checkpoint in Obingwa Local Government Area, near Aba metropolis.
