JUST IN: Powerful Nigerian Politician Is Dead (PHOTO)
Demola Seriki, Nigeria’s ambassador to Spain, has died. The Lagos politician died at the age of 63 in Madrid, Spain.
On Thursday, his children issued a statement announcing his death. The Nigerian envoy to Spain died in the early hours of Thursday, according to the statement.
“It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude to Almighty Allah that we announce the loss of our much-loved and admired patriarch, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, His Excellency, Ambassador Demola Seriki, on December 15, 2022.
“He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in Madrid, Spain,” the statement read.

He served as Nigeria’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain until his death, having been appointed to the position in January 2021.
Between 2009 and 2010, he was the Minister of State for the Interior.
The Oba of Lagos, HRH Oba Rilwan Akiolu, bestowed the chieftaincy title of Otun Aare of Lagos on Demola Seriki in May 2009.
From 2007 to 2008, he served as Nigeria’s Minister of State for Agriculture and Water Resources.
From October to December 2008, he was the Supervising Minister for Mines and Steel Development.
He was also Minister of State for Defence from 2008 to 2009.
