In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu praised the late Dozie for his immense contributions to both the banking and telecommunications sectors in Nigeria.

The President referred to Chief Dozie as a visionary and a rare business leader whose humility and wisdom were pivotal in laying the foundation for Nigeria’s development. His passing marks a significant loss to both the private sector and the nation as a whole.

 

“Chief Pascal Dozie, OON, was a trailblazer whose impact on Nigeria’s economic landscape is undeniable. As the founder of Diamond Bank and the first Chairman of MTN Nigeria, he played a pivotal role in shaping two of the most transformative industries in the country: banking and telecommunications.”

“His vision extended beyond corporate leadership. Dozie also served as a director at the Central Bank of Nigeria, President of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, and Chairman of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group, where his influence in national policy and youth empowerment left a lasting legacy.”

 

President Tinubu prayed for the peaceful repose of Dozie’s soul and offered his condolences to his wife, children, and extended family. He urged the Nigerian private sector to honor Dozie’s memory by embodying the values of integrity, innovation, and nation-building for which he was so well-known.
