“The governors came to beg Buhari to stand with Tinubu as 2027 approaches,” a source told Leadership Newspaper. “There’s concern that many of Buhari’s old allies are aligning with the new opposition coalition, which could threaten Tinubu’s second-term bid.”

Governor Uzodimma, who also chairs the Progressive Governors Forum, tried to play down the urgency of the visit when addressing the press. He described the meeting as a show of respect and loyalty to Buhari, calling him the “father of the APC.”
