Just NDC Primaries, She Still Didn’t Make It” — Wike Taunts Aisha Yesufu

According to Ireporter Online, Wike made the remarks on Saturday in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, during the Renewed Hope Luncheon organised by the Rainbow Coalition, a political group comprising members of the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party.

Yesufu had declared her intention to contest the FCT senatorial seat on May 6 after defecting to the NDC from the African Democratic Congress, stating that her decision was driven by her leadership experience within the ADC. However, reports later emerged that the party had allegedly favoured another aspirant, Amanda Pam, who was said to have been a long-standing member before Yesufu’s entry.

The situation escalated when Yesufu announced that the NDC would not be holding primaries for the senatorial ticket, effectively ending her bid. She later clarified that she did not withdraw from the race but objected to what she described as irregularities, including alleged injustice and a breach of the Electoral Act.

Reacting to the development, Wike mocked the activist, arguing that her strong criticism on social media did not translate into political success. He recalled her earlier comments about him, saying she had dismissed his position as a government appointee and questioned his relevance.

“You speak grammar, speak grammar oh. Ordinary primary of NDC, not APC or PDP, just ordinary NDC, what happened? She didn’t make it,” Wike said.

He further criticised what he described as the tendency of some individuals to make bold public statements without achieving results in practical politics, adding that real political engagement exposes such contradictions.

Wike also emphasised the importance of experience in leadership and political participation, urging Nigerians to support individuals who understand the country’s political system and are genuinely committed to national development.
