Kano Health Commissioner Warns on TB Spread, Calls for Early Treatment

Key Highlights:

  • Kano recorded 33,690 TB cases in 2024, with 28,169 successfully treated (83% success rate).

  • The disease spreads through coughing, sneezing, talking, and even laughing.

  • TB treatment is free in health facilities across Kano.

  • Kano has 1,391 TB treatment centers and 300 diagnostic labs with advanced testing equipment.

Dr. Yusuf urged residents to seek early diagnosis and praised Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, WHO, and other partners for supporting TB control efforts.

This year’s World TB Day theme is: “Yes! We Can End TB,” with the slogan “We fit do am. Commit, Invest, Deliver.”
