Lagos Airport Seizure: 3.5kg Of Loud Concealed In Duvet, Smugglers Busted

According to a statement by NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, six parcels containing 3.50 kilograms of the psychoactive substance were found hidden inside the duvet.
Austin Balogun, the main agent behind the operation, reportedly hired Sunday Adakole for the job, claiming he was paid N700,000 to ship the consignment to the UK. However, he stated that a portion of the money was spent on export handling fees, while the majority was used for an apartment rental.
In a separate operation, Babafemi confirmed the arrest of two individuals, Joseph Adewale and Biodun Adelakun, in a raid on their hideout in the Igbo Olumo area of Ikorodu, Lagos.
During the raid, seven litres of skuchies, a new psychoactive drug made from black currant, cannabis, and opioids, were seized.
Other items recovered from the suspects included three locally made double-barrelled rifles, a locally made double-barrelled pistol, an English-made pistol, a locally made single-barrelled rifle, three cartridges, an empty 9mm cartridge, and an iron-headed axe.
In another operation on January 19, 2025, NDLEA officers seized 47kg of skunk (a cannabis strain) and 25.46kg of Nitrous Oxide, also known as laughing gas, in the notorious Akala area of Mushin, Lagos.
Babafemi also mentioned the arrest of a 26-year-old suspect, Adepoju Taiwo, in Ekiti State on January 23, 2025, with 1.95kg of Canadian Loud, and Auwal Sani, arrested in Kwara State on January 20, 2025, with 50,000 tramadol pills weighing 36.56kg.
Furthermore, three suspects—Abubakar Lami, 45, and his associates Abba Sani, 35, and Auwal Aliyu, 32—were arrested by NDLEA officers in Kano while attempting to traffic 13.1kg of skunk and 125 litres of a new substance known as “suck and die.” In addition, a cannabis plantation was discovered and destroyed in Kano’s Dawakin Kudu area, with a suspect, Sabo Ali Muhammad, 45, arrested in connection with the farm.
