Lawyer Accuses Police Of Unlawful Seizure Calls On IG To Investigate
A Lagos-based lawyer, Adebayo Adekoya, has petitioned Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, requesting an investigation into alleged harassment and unauthorized seizure of property from a retired Nigeria Customs Service officer, Akeem Sanyaolu, by officers from the Zone 2 headquarters……..CONTINUE READING
The lawyer claims that police officers took three vehicles and documents from Sanyaolu’s home without a warrant or court order.
Adekoya also alleged that the police officers were unable to produce a file containing the petition that supposedly authorized the operation, suggesting an illegal action. The lawyer urged police authorities to release the investigation file and confirm whether due procedures were followed, including obtaining a court order prior to the operation.
This request for accountability seeks to clarify actions taken and ensure that law enforcement protocols are maintained.
