Abure, who was detained alongside Edo state party chairman Kelly Ogbaloi and two others by a joint team of police and DSS operatives, spoke passionately to supporters and party members in Benin City on Thursday morning.
Expressing gratitude for the outpouring of solidarity, Abure underscored the challenges inherent in the struggle for liberation, emphasizing his unwavering commitment to combating injustice.
The LP chairman attributed his arrest to purported attempts to destabilize the party, citing baseless accusations of forgery and embezzlement as part of a broader campaign of defamation.
Drawing attention to ongoing investigations, Abure refrained from delving into specifics but affirmed his innocence while praising the resilience of LP members.
He stated, “Yesterday, we were making arrangements for the primaries and of course, the Police swarmed on us, arrested us over what I would not want to discuss now because investigation is ongoing… But I must state clearly that following several interventions, they have graciously released me on bail.”
As the LP chairman’s release marks a temporary respite in the midst of turmoil, his impassioned address serves as a rallying cry for justice and integrity within the party, resonating with supporters and renewing their resolve to uphold the principles of transparency and accountability.
