Marketers Express Hope As Another Refinery Set To Begin Selling Fuel
The Independent Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) is looking forward to receiving fuel from the Port Harcourt Refinery by the end of the month, signaling hope for improved fuel availability in the country. This development aligns with the earlier assurance given by the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari, who stated in March that the Port Harcourt refinery would resume operations in April. Kyari revealed that the mechanical works had been finalized, and the facility had received over 450,000 barrels of crude oil.
The anticipated commencement of operations at the Port Harcourt Refinery comes as welcome news amid efforts to address fuel scarcity and ensure consistent fuel supply across the country. Additionally, repair works at the Kaduna and Warri refineries are nearing completion, with the Kaduna refinery expected to commence operations in December.
The readiness of these refineries to resume operations signifies progress in Nigeria’s efforts to enhance its refining capacity and reduce dependency on imported petroleum products. It also reflects the commitment of stakeholders to revitalize the nation’s downstream oil sector for the benefit of consumers and the economy at large.
