Minister of Information Sets New Performance Standards for Agencies to Boost Tinubu’s Vision

Move aimed at aligning government communication strategies with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, signed Performance Bonds with leaders of various agencies and parastatals under his ministry. The signing took place during a one-day retreat designed to clarify their roles in promoting the administration’s achievements.

The Performance Bonds were signed by several key figures, including Dr. Ngozi Onwudiwe, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry; Mallam Jibrin Baba Ndace, Director-General of Voice of Nigeria (VON); Mr. Ali Muhammed Ali, Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN); Mr. Salihu Abdulhamid Dembos, Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA); and Dr. Muhammed Bulama, Director-General of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN). Other signatories included Dr. Lekan Fadolapo, Director-General of the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON); Mr. Charles Ebuebu, Director-General of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC); Mr. Dili Ezughah, Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Press Council (NPC); and Mr. Lanre Issa-Onilu, Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), represented by a director.

At the retreat, Minister Idris emphasized the importance of these Performance Bonds in ensuring that all agency heads and their teams are fully committed to effectively communicating the successes and initiatives of President Tinubu’s administration. The minister noted that since President Tinubu’s administration began, there has been a structured agenda aimed at fostering a Renewed Hope Initiative, which involves all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) and includes a tracking system managed by the Central Results Delivery and Coordinating Unit (CRDCU).

“This retreat is crucial for understanding how each of you contributes to achieving the Renewed Hope Agenda. As heads or Delivery Officers, you are tasked with delivering results to the CRDCU, and it is essential that you comprehend and fulfill this responsibility,” Idris stated.

The Minister highlighted that the performance bond signed with President Tinubu was to guarantee the ministry’s effectiveness in fulfilling its mandate. He reiterated the need for all involved, including the directors and agency heads, to align their efforts with the administration’s goals, such as improvements in minimum wage, student loans, consumer credit, and support grants for businesses.

Idris also pointed out the importance of understanding and communicating the government’s efforts in infrastructure and social projects. He urged participants to engage in open discussions to address any ambiguities and ensure effective communication of their mandates.

The Minister expressed his gratitude to Hadiza Bala Usman, the Special Adviser to the President on Policy and Coordination, for her dedication and the visibility she has brought to the CRDCU, which plays a vital role in tracking and coordinating the administration’s initiatives.

This strategic alignment and commitment through the Performance Bonds mark a significant step towards enhancing the public’s awareness and understanding of the government’s progress and achievements under President Tinubu’s leadership.
