A heart-wrenching scene unfolded at the Kwara State High Court in Ilorin on Wednesday during the ongoing trial of AbdulRahman Bello, infamously dubbed the “Facebook killer lover.”

According to reports, police officers presented human body parts as evidence, plunging the courtroom into grief and horror. Bello stands accused of murdering his girlfriend, Hafsoh Lawal, and dismembering her for alleged ritual purposes.

An especially devastating moment came when the victim’s father, Ibrahim Lawal, was called upon to identify the severed hands of his daughter. Overcome with emotion, he broke down in tears. The distress in the courtroom was palpable, with relatives and observers visibly shaken and many weeping as the stench of decomposing remains permeated the room.

In a compassionate gesture, presiding Judge Justice Hannah Ajayi temporarily halted the proceedings and offered a heartfelt prayer, asking God to give Ibrahim Lawal the strength to bear the sorrow of his loss.

The tragedy dates back to February 2025 when Bello, reportedly an Ilorin-based cleric, allegedly murdered Hafsoh and mutilated her body in a suspected bid for money rituals. After she was declared missing, police investigations led to Bello’s arrest on February 13. He allegedly confessed to the crime during interrogation.

During his testimony, Ibrahim Lawal described the anguish of trying to reach his daughter: “I called her phone several times, but she didn’t answer. By 7 p.m., it was switched off,” he said, recounting the family’s desperate efforts to locate her. Subsequent tracking of her call logs led to Bello’s arrest.

Police reportedly recovered several damning exhibits from Bello’s residence and a nearby dumpsite, including a cutlass, blood-stained furniture, an axe, a knife, a keg believed to contain human blood, and Hafsoh’s personal items—such as her slippers, earrings, and phones. Most harrowing were the two severed hands presented in court, which Ibrahim Lawal identified as his daughter’s.
