My Former Deputy Tried To Depose Me’ – Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf

The governor made the claim while addressing a delegation of praise singers known as the Mawallafan Abba Gida Gida at the Government House in Kano.

The development follows Abdussalam’s recent resignation from office and his reported defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), amid an earlier impeachment move initiated by members of the State House of Assembly, which was later discontinued shortly after his exit.

Speaking on the matter, Governor Yusuf stated that he had neither received nor sighted any formal resignation letter from his former deputy, insisting that his administration did not engage in any actions that could have prompted such a decision.

He further alleged that Abdussalam’s actions were motivated by an attempt to take over the governorship, stressing that the move did not succeed as it was not permitted by fate.

The governor also expressed surprise over the political developments within the Kwankwasiyya Movement, questioning why his former deputy was not accorded what he described as a similar political opportunity elsewhere.

He added that Abdussalam’s departure raised questions about fairness and internal political arrangements within the movement, while maintaining that his administration remained focused on governance despite the controversy.
