ireporteronline reported that Soyombo was arrested and held for three days. His release on Friday followed widespread calls from citizens, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), and activists, alongside intense media pressure.

Soyombo credited the campaign, driven by social media engagement and traditional media coverage, for his freedom. He reflected on his ordeal, describing multiple interrogations and the Army’s initial intent to detain him indefinitely during their investigation.

Sharing his gratitude, Soyombo stated:

“I often hear people say Nigerians are not worth fighting for, but I’ve always disagreed. Yesterday, you proved me right. The #FreeFisayoNow campaign and media coverage ensured my detention lasted ‘only’ three days. Without your pressure, I’d still be in that cell.”

The journalist recounted his arrest in the early hours of Wednesday and his subsequent transfer to the Military Intelligence Brigade on Friday, where an officer recognized him from the media coverage.
