Natasha Akpoti Appeals To Police IG Over Bandit Attacks In Kogi
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central senatorial district, has strongly condemned the recent violent attacks in Omala Local Government Area of Kogi state, which resulted in the loss of at least 19 lives. In a statement released by her media aide, Arogbonlo Israel, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan urged the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, to intervene swiftly and restore peace to the affected communities. She expressed her condolences to the families who lost loved ones in the crisis and emphasized the need for a thorough examination of the root causes of the conflict.
The senator stressed the importance of security agencies in pursuing the masterminds behind the attacks and called on both the State and Federal governments to take immediate action to prevent further escalation of the crisis. She highlighted the use of intelligence by security agencies and urged community collaboration to identify the criminals and ensure they face legal consequences.
The violent attacks occurred in Agojeju Odo and Abejukolo communities in Omala LGA on Thursday, April 4, with gunmen extending their onslaught to other areas, destroying farm produce in the process. Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s appeal underscores the urgent need for measures to restore peace and security in the affected areas.
