NDLEA Advises Nigerians To Embrace Drug-Free, Safe Christmas Celebrations

According to Ireporter Online, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has called on Nigerians to prioritise their health and personal safety during the Christmas festivities by avoiding drug use and making responsible lifestyle choices.

In a goodwill message released to mark Christmas, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the agency, Brigadier General Buba Marwa (Rtd), extended warm wishes to citizens across the country while commending NDLEA officers for their unwavering dedication to the fight against drug abuse.

Marwa praised the commitment and sacrifices of personnel of the agency, noting that their efforts in protecting communities from the dangers of illicit drugs remain invaluable to national wellbeing and security.

He further urged Nigerians to take advantage of the festive period to embrace healthy, drug-free habits that would not only protect their own lives but also ensure the safety of others around them.

The NDLEA boss expressed optimism that collective responsibility and conscious choices could help build a safer and healthier nation, while wishing Nigerians a peaceful, joyful and drug-free Christmas celebration.

The advisory comes amid heightened concerns over the growing rate of drug abuse in the country. Recent global drug assessments indicate that Nigeria’s drug use prevalence remains significantly higher than the global average, with millions of citizens within the working-age population affected.
