NDLEA Nabs Notorious Bandits’ Drug Supplier ‘Gamboli’ After Weeks On The Run

In a statement issued on Sunday by the NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, the agency disclosed that Gamboli was first targeted on November 20, 2025, when officers raided his home in Anguwan Makera, Kuta, in Shiroro Local Government Area. Although he escaped during that operation, operatives recovered about 471.8 kilograms of skunk, a strain of cannabis, from the premises.

Further intelligence-led investigations later revealed his new location, leading to his arrest on Thursday, December 11, at a suspected drug distribution point in Anguwan Fadama, Kuta. Intelligence reports identified him as a major supplier of illicit substances to criminal elements in the Shiroro axis.

The agency also recorded several other breakthroughs across the country during coordinated operations. In Abia State, NDLEA officers uncovered a clandestine factory producing codeine syrup at Amapu Igbengwo village in Osisioma Local Government Area, where 9,015 bottles of the substance, weighing over 1,152 kilograms, were seized.

In Enugu State, two suspects were arrested along major highways with significant quantities of skunk, while in Oyo State, a raid on a notorious drug joint led to the seizure of skunk, synthetic cannabis, and methamphetamine. One suspect was arrested at the scene, while the alleged owner of the outlet remains at large. Another operation in Ibadan resulted in the arrest of a woman and the recovery of a large cache of cannabis.

At the Gbaji checkpoint along the Seme Road in Badagry, Lagos State, two suspects were intercepted with 50,000 pills of high-strength tramadol. Similar arrests were made in Ogun State, where several suspects were apprehended with large consignments of skunk across different communities.

In Ondo State, NDLEA operatives arrested a middle-aged woman and her son in Ogbese, Akure North Local Government Area, following the discovery of over 1,187 kilograms of skunk and its seeds. Edo State also recorded a major seizure during a raid in Owan East Local Government Area, where hundreds of kilograms of cannabis were recovered.

Meanwhile, in Gombe State, NDLEA officers arrested a suspect with tens of thousands of tramadol capsules, while two others were nabbed with substantial quantities of skunk in separate operations.

The agency further disclosed that officers intercepted multiple consignments of controlled pharmaceutical substances concealed in containers of local black soap and designer clothing at courier companies in Lagos. The parcels were reportedly destined for the United States, Canada, and Sweden.

At the Apapa Seaport in Lagos, NDLEA operatives, in collaboration with the Nigeria Customs Service and other security agencies, intercepted a container loaded with 170,000 bottles of codeine syrup, weighing over 23,500 kilograms, during a joint examination.

The NDLEA reiterated its commitment to sustaining intelligence-driven operations aimed at dismantling drug networks and cutting off supply chains that fuel criminal activities across the country.
