In the midst of these adversities, there comes a glimmer of hope from renowned Nigerian economist, Bismark Rewane, who predicts a forthcoming decrease in the prices of vital foodstuffs such as rice and bread.
Rewane attributes this projected relief to the effective monetary policies implemented by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), which he believes will positively impact the economy and help alleviate inflationary pressures on food prices.
Highlighting prevailing economic indicators, Rewane pointed out noticeable improvements in both food and core inflation rates. He specifically highlighted a downward trajectory in the price of rice and foresees further reductions following the Ramadan period. Similarly, he mentioned that the cost of bread is on a downward trend, with expectations of continuous decrease.
