Discussions are underway to terminate Neymar’s contract with Al Hilal, with final negotiations still ongoing.

Renowned sports journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed the news in a post on his X handle, stating that a verbal agreement has been reached for Neymar’s return to Santos. “Formal steps will follow next week to finalize the deal between Al Hilal and Santos, with contracts under review. Neymar has already agreed to the move,” the post revealed.

If the transfer is finalized, Neymar is expected to travel to Brazil this week and could make his first appearance for Santos on February 5, coinciding with his 33rd birthday.

Neymar joined Al Hilal in the summer of 2023 from Paris Saint-Germain for a fee of $97.6 million. However, his time in Saudi Arabia was plagued by injuries, limiting him to just seven league and cup appearances and one goal, scored during an AFC Champions League match against Nassaji Mazandaran on October 3, 2023.

Neymar began his professional career at Santos in 2009 and achieved legendary status by leading the club to their first Copa Libertadores title in nearly 50 years in 2011, scoring in the second leg of the final against Peñarol.

At the international level, Neymar holds the record for the most goals scored for Brazil, with 79 goals in 128 appearances. He was also part of the team that secured gold at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio.
