Niger Delta Youths On Notice: FG Slams Disruptions To Vital Road Projects
The Federal Government has called on Niger Delta youths to cease interfering with road construction projects in the region. Criticizing the entitlement mentality stemming from oil production, the government urged collaboration to ensure project completion.
Olufunsho Adebiyi, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Works, highlighted the need for a mindset shift during an inspection tour in Rivers State. He emphasized that disruptions only stall development and reallocate resources to other zones.
Adebiyi also stressed the importance of maintaining completed projects and accelerating ongoing work, such as the Port Harcourt-Enugu Highway and the Bodo-Bonny Road. “These projects are non-negotiable and must be delivered this year,” he declared.
The Permanent Secretary further appealed for better maintenance practices, warning that actions like damaging pavements or harassing contractors would not be tolerated.
