Nigerians Urged To Push For Urgent Economic Reforms As Cost Of Living Soars

Delta State, in a six-point communiqué issued after a council meeting led by Pere S.P. Luke Kalanama VIII, the Traditional Ruler of Akugbene-Mein Kingdom and first vice chairman of the Delta State Traditional Rulers Council.

The communiqué expressed deep concern about the rising cost of living and called on federal authorities to adopt effective economic policies that can reverse the current economic difficulties and set the country on a path of sustainable growth. The Council also raised concerns about the ongoing loss of lives and property due to terrorist activities, urging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to implement comprehensive reforms in the nation’s security architecture. Additionally, the Council highlighted the devastating impact of flooding on farmlands and properties in coastal communities, pressing for immediate and lasting solutions. They also commended Delta State Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for the creation of the Directorate of Riverine Infrastructure Development (DRID), a move that aims to address infrastructure deficits in riverine areas, and reaffirmed their support for his administration.
