Nigerian singer Niniola Apata has released a deeply emotional new single, Raining (O Dun Mi), in honour of her late husband and former manager, Michael Ndika.

According to IReporter Online, the three-minute track was released on Friday and marks Niniola’s first musical release since Ndika’s death in May.

The singer announced the song on Instagram, describing the project as one of the most personal songs of her career and a tribute to a man who played significant roles in both her personal life and professional journey.

Niniola explained that while some songs are created primarily for entertainment, others emerge from life-changing experiences. She said Raining (O Dun Mi) was inspired by the loss of someone who was not only her life partner but also an important figure in her career.

The singer also dedicated the song to people who have experienced the pain of losing loved ones.

According to her, the track reflects the memories left behind after losing someone special, the emptiness created by their absence and the enduring nature of love.

Niniola said music provided her with a way to preserve her husband’s memory and express emotions that followed his passing.

She further described the song as a message of comfort to anyone dealing with grief, stressing that the pain of losing a loved one can leave lasting memories while the bond created through love continues beyond their absence.

Raining (O Dun Mi) therefore serves not only as a personal tribute to Ndika but also as an emotional offering to others navigating bereavement.

The release marks Niniola’s return to music following a difficult period and highlights how she has chosen songwriting and music to process her grief and celebrate the memory of her late husband.
