“This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the sacrifices Nigerian workers make every day to build a nation that serves everyone,” Ajaero stated. He emphasized that no worker should risk life or health while on the job and urged the government to strengthen safety standards in high-risk sectors like offshore oil and gas.

Ajaero highlighted concerns about inadequate enforcement of safety regulations, noting that only through strict compliance and a commitment from employers and regulators can workers in hazardous roles be adequately protected. He also stressed the need for reliable flight equipment, strong communication, and effective search-and-rescue resources.

The NLC urged the Federal Government and relevant agencies to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the crash. “Only a complete inquiry will yield the lessons needed to prevent future tragedies,” the statement said. The NLC expressed solidarity with the families, colleagues, and unions impacted by the loss, especially the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers and the National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers.

The Congress reiterated its commitment to advancing workplace safety across Nigeria to prevent future tragedies and honor the memory of those lost.
