which included the reassignment of Doris Azoka-Anite, the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment. Azoka-Anite, who faced backlash over her management style, has now been appointed as a state minister in the Ministry of Finance.

Reliable sources have informed Saturday PUNCH that Azoka-Anite’s removal from her previous position was primarily due to her alleged detachment from critical agencies and departments within her ministry. It was revealed that she moved her office from the official ministry premises to a different location in Abuja, which complicated communication and workflow for her staff.

Ministry officials, who wish to remain anonymous, voiced concerns that Azoka-Anite’s absence from the ministry negatively impacted operational efficiency and created a disjointed departmental environment. This change made it difficult for staff to perform their duties effectively and maintain routine administrative oversight.

A senior official from the ministry stated, “The ministry was too large for her to manage alone. We typically have two ministers, so it was unclear why the President appointed only her to oversee it.

“Unfortunately, she felt overwhelmed and preferred to work independently, avoiding collaboration with the various departments and agencies within the ministry.

“She frustrated industrialists with her self-styled administrative approach. Whenever we needed to sign documents, we had to leave the ministry to meet her at her new personal office, and many of the files we submitted often went unreturned. She had her own team running the ministry in her absence.

“I believe industrialists who were frustrated by her management style reported her to the President, ultimately leading to her demotion.”
