Northern Governors Condemn Yobe Attack, Demand Swift Justice

The Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF) has condemned the attack in Mafa, Tarmuwa Local Government Area of Yobe State.

34 people were killed when gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram insurgents looted and set ablaze shops and houses in the local government on Sunday.

Days after, the Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, described the attack as a senseless act of violence that has inflicted immense grief on the affected families and communities.

The governor in a statement released by his spokesman, Ismaila Uba Misilli, expressed outrage over the attack, calling on security agencies to unmask the perpetrators of the violence that claimed several lives.

“This brutal act must not go unpunished. I call on security agencies to double their efforts and ensure that the perpetrators are swiftly brought to justice,” Yahaya said.

Yahaya reaffirmed the commitment of northern governors to supporting efforts aimed at restoring peace and security in the region.

He also stressed the importance of collective action to prevent such tragedies from recurring and sympathised with the bereaved families and the government of Yobe State.

The NSGF Chairman prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
