Not Resting Until Nigeria Is Safe’: Tinubu’s Minister Assures Citizens Amidst Rising Insecurity

Ongoing efforts are being made by the Tinubu-led administration to address the nation’s security issues, according to Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo. During an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, he highlighted the government’s commitment to resolving Nigeria’s security challenges.

Tunji-Ojo emphasized that key officials, including National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Defence Minister Mohammed Badaru, and Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa, are “losing sleep” over national security concerns. “No one is resting—not the NSA, not the Defence Minister, nor the Chief of Defence Staff or DSS. We are all actively working on this,” he stated, acknowledging his responsibility, on behalf of the President, for the safety of all Nigerians.

He noted that while full security goals have yet to be met, there has been significant progress in weakening groups like Boko Haram and ISWAP under Tinubu’s administration. Addressing recent attacks by a new terror group in Sokoto and Kebbi, Tunji-Ojo reassured Nigerians of the President’s sensitivity to these matters, urging patience.

“The President is aware of the security issues and focused on action over talk,” he said. “We have not reached our ultimate target, but we’re not where we started either. We’re making steady progress.
