Nurse Slumps, Dies On Duty

Asma’u Lawali Bungudu, a nurse at the Ahmed Sani Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital in Zamfara State, was declared dead after slumping while performing her duties.

According to the Tribune, the nurse was in good health when she arrived at the hospital for work early on Wednesday, but she died a few hours later.

Auwal Usman, a hospital spokesman, confirmed the incident, stating that Asma’u was on duty and had checked the blood pressure of about 30 patients before complaining about a cardiac problem to a doctor.

The hospital spokesman went on to say that after her complaint, she immediately slumped, and doctors rushed to save her.

“The medical doctors tried all they could to save her life but they couldn’t as she died instantly,” he added.

According to Usman, the hospital’s management team, led by Medical Director Dr Usman Muhammad Shanawa, has handed over the body to the deceased’s relatives.

A family member of the late nurse confirmed when contacted that Asmau left home hale and hearty on Wednesday morning and went to the hospital where she works as a nurse with no health complaints.

“She was buried today by 5 pm at Malan Abdurrahaman House, Magama Area, Bungudu according to Islamic injunction,” the relative added.
