Oando Pledges Full Support For Indigenous Upstream Growth

According to Ireporter Online, Oando Energy Resources (OER) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s indigenous upstream oil and gas sector following a strategic visit from Adegbite Falade, Chairman of the Independent Petroleum Producers Group (IPPG) and Managing Director/CEO of Aradel Holdings.

During the high-level engagement, discussions centered on enhancing collaboration among local producers and promoting coordinated advocacy as indigenous companies take on a greater role in national oil and gas output.

Falade highlighted the significant contribution of Oando within IPPG and the broader upstream sector. “Over the past decade, indigenous producers have shifted the centre of gravity in Nigeria’s upstream industry. Today, IPPG members account for more than half of national production. Oando is a key part of that progress and has consistently strengthened our collective voice in external engagements,” he said.

He further praised the company’s leadership, including Oando Plc’s Group Chief Executive Wale Tinubu and Deputy Group Chief Executive Omamofe Boyo, for their support, noting the company’s active contribution to IPPG’s 10-year anniversary events as evidence of its dedication to industry development.

In response, OER Managing Director Ainojie ‘Alex’ Irune reiterated the company’s long-term commitment to advancing indigenous upstream capacity. “Oando remains firmly invested in the growth and institutional strengthening of IPPG. As local companies lead the next phase of upstream development, disciplined execution, strong governance, and coordinated advocacy will be critical to sustaining production growth and ensuring industry stability,” he stated.

Falade emphasized the importance of sharper advocacy, stronger institutional alignment, and deeper coordination among IPPG members to influence regulatory and policy frameworks. Irune welcomed the strengthening of IPPG’s leadership structure, noting that robust institutional frameworks will be essential as the sector adapts to evolving regulatory, operational, and market dynamics.

The visit underscores Oando’s role as a leading indigenous operator actively shaping the future of Nigeria’s upstream sector and supporting collaborative efforts to build a resilient and competitive energy landscape.
